Week 7 served as a powerful redemption arc for former USC Trojans in the NFL, with both Caleb Williams and Sam Darnold delivering standout performances that silenced doubters. Darnold regained his confidence and swagger by challenging the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, while Williams continued his upward trajectory with a dynamic display that has solidified his status as a top-tier quarterback. The week capped off with Makai Lemon joining the ranks of encouraging Trojan performances during Monday Night Football, proving the depth and impact of the program’s recent NFL pipeline.
Trojan QBs reclaim swagger as Williams enters top-5 conversation and Darnold stuns Chiefs
Caleb Williams emerged as the week’s standout performer, outshining Drake Maye in a direct comparison that places him firmly in the top-five quarterback conversation. The Bears signal-caller completed 22 of 33 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing a dangerous blend of timing and big-play creation. By playing on time while maintaining his explosive arm, Williams is presenting a version of himself that could soon trigger MVP discussions if this consistency persists throughout the season.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons offense found its rhythm following the return of Michael Penix Jr., who has ensured Drake London receives a consistent share of targets. London capitalized on this trust with 10 targets, converting seven into 66 yards and a touchdown, signaling a much-improved offensive unit for the Falcons. As the NFL season progresses, the collective success of these former Trojans highlights the enduring quality of USC’s quarterback development and offensive line play.
