LSU women’s basketball etched its name into the NCAA record books on Thursday, November 5, by defeating Texas Southern 131-22 in the largest margin of victory ever recorded between two Division I opponents. The historic 109-point rout at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge featured former star and guest of honor Angel Reese in attendance, witnessing a display of dominance that capped a second consecutive record-setting performance for the No. 9-ranked Tigers.
Kim Mulkey’s Tigers set NCAA record with largest margin of victory in Division I history.
The offensive explosion was a team effort, with seven LSU players finishing in double-digit scoring while no member of the Texas Southern squad reached the 10-point mark. Senior guard Mikaylah Williams led the charge with 20 points, while transfer guard Jada Williams contributed 18 points and seven assists. This performance marked the fewest points allowed by a Kim Mulkey-led team, following a 94-point win over Southeastern Louisiana in the season opener on November 2.
The result underscores the depth and versatility of the current LSU roster, which has already shattered program records in just two games. Jada Williams expressed the collective confidence of the squad, stating, “We just some hoopers… Everybody gonna hoop. Every game, it’s going to be somebody else.” With the team averaging over 130 points per game in its first two outings, the Tigers have established themselves as the most potent offensive force in college basketball this season.
