Calvary running back Z’ryan Miles exposed the vulnerabilities of the Green Oaks defense with a historic performance that secured a decisive 56-20 victory for the Cavaliers (9-1) over the Giants (7-2). Standing just 5-foot-4 and weighing 190 pounds, Miles operated with a deceptive combination of elite speed and raw power, scoring three rushing touchdowns in the first half alone. His explosive runs of 32, 21, and 8 yards were complemented by a six-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Hudson Price, effectively dismantling the Giants’ defensive line before the second quarter began. The dominance was so absolute that the Green Oaks defense remains searching for answers after being outmuscled and outrun by a player who barely clears the height of the end zone markers.
Key Match Highlights & Tactical Analysis
Miles’ physicality proved to be a significant factor in his ability to evade and overpower would-be tacklers, as defenders frequently found themselves unable to wrap up the compact athlete once he broke the line of scrimmage. Despite his smaller stature, the 1,000-yard rusher from last season demonstrated that his strength allows him to punch through gaps that appear no wider than a minute, often reaching the secondary before defensive linemen can react. This efficiency in gaining yards after contact highlights why Miles remains a pivotal asset for Calvary, as his ability to convert short gains into first downs and long scores keeps the offense moving with relentless momentum against any opponent.
With the LHSAA playoff pairings scheduled to be released on Sunday, Calvary’s strong regular-season finish positions them favorably for a deep postseason run. While Miles may not reach the 1,000-yard mark again this season unless the Cavaliers advance significantly, his current form suggests he will be the focal point of the offense in the coming weeks. The team’s ability to control the game tempo through his dual-threat capabilities provides a clear path forward, ensuring that Calvary remains a formidable contender as the high school football season enters its most critical phase.
