Five franchises battle for 27 slots as purse dynamics shift ahead of the fifth edition
Purse disparities create distinct strategic challenges for each franchise. UP Warriorz face the heaviest workload, needing to fill eight slots with Rs 3.75 crore remaining in their budget. Gujarat Giants hold Rs 1.25 crore, followed closely by Royal Challengers Bengaluru with Rs 1.15 crore and Delhi Capitals with Rs 1.10 crore. Mumbai Indians enter with the tightest constraints, having only Rs 90 lakh left to spend. These financial realities will dictate whether teams prioritize star power or depth in the final stages of squad construction.
Defending champions RCB, along with Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants, aim to make targeted additions after retaining their core players. The live telecast will air on the Star Sports Network, while digital viewers can stream the action exclusively on JioHotstar. As the auction progresses, the interplay between limited budgets and high-value player availability will determine which teams secure the best value. Fans should tune in to witness how these strategic moves shape the competitive landscape for the upcoming WPL season.
