Senior Logan Vogt delivered a commanding performance in her final high school match, leading all players with 16 total kills. The offensive firepower was supported by fellow seniors Leah Janulewicz and Piper Ladwig, who combined for 20 kills to keep DCG’s defense off balance. On the back row, setters Lyla Nelson and Kennedy Jackson orchestrated the offense with precision, combining for 43 assists to ensure the ball reached their hitters in optimal positions. Vogt’s early dominance, including seven kills in the opening frame, set the tone for a game that never truly threatened to turn.
The Wolves controlled the narrative from the start, closing the first set with an 8-2 run to take a 25-13 lead. Although DCG applied pressure early in the second set, trailing 8-6, Northwest responded with a resilient rally to secure the set 25-19. Senior Cassidy Danburg sealed the momentum with the final two kills of the second frame, keeping the Wolves’ momentum intact. This efficient execution allowed Waukee Northwest to close out the third set comfortably, finishing with an 11-2 record in the state tournament and solidifying their legacy as the top program in the conference.
