Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg has achieved a personal milestone that rivals any on-court statistic by purchasing a new home for his mother, Yissel Raposo. The 24-year-old guard documented the emotional reveal in a YouTube video titled “This one’s for Mama Yax,” capturing the moment Raposo was told “Welcome home.” Lendeborg confirmed that the process of securing the property took two to three months, a deliberate effort to ensure the gift was perfect for the woman he credits with saving his life.

The gesture carries profound weight given Raposo’s recent battle with Stage 4 appendix cancer, a diagnosis that threatened to derail Lendeborg’s trajectory. In a February Players’ Tribune essay, Lendeborg detailed how his mother’s resilience kept him academically and athletically viable during his high school years, preventing him from falling into a path of academic failure. Her unwavering support transformed a struggling student into a collegiate star and, ultimately, an NBA professional, making the new house a tangible symbol of her sacrifice.
Lendeborg emphasized that this act of gratitude transcends the sport of basketball, stating, “There is no gesture big enough to properly say thank you for all the love, sacrifice, and support my mom has poured into me.” The video shows Raposo overcome with emotion, fighting back tears as she walks through the doorway of her new residence. For Lendeborg, the purchase is not just a reward but a promise to ensure that the people who believed in him share in the blessings of his success, cementing a legacy built on family devotion rather than just athletic talent.
