Arsenal secured a vital away victory in Prague, with Viktor Gyökeres emerging as the decisive factor in a tense European clash. The Hungarian striker, who has faced significant scrutiny recently, delivered a masterclass by providing the assist for Noni Madueke’s early opener and scoring the emphatic second goal just before halftime. Gyökeres’s performance marked his third assist in the last five appearances, signaling a resurgence in form that Mikel Arteta will view as a crucial boost to Arsenal’s attacking depth alongside Kai Havertz.
Key Match Highlights & Tactical Analysis
The result extends Slavia Prague’s European Cup and Champions League winless streak to 23 matches, equalling the all-time record held by AEK Athens and FCSB. For Arsenal, the win underscores their growing resilience on the road, as they remain unbeaten in their last 10 away European trips. Following a shaky domestic performance against Fleetwood, the Gunners showed no signs of complacency, leveraging Gyökeres’s momentum to control the game’s tempo and limit Slavia’s spirited late comeback attempts.
This victory cements Arsenal’s status as a formidable force in European competition, highlighting the tactical flexibility provided by having multiple in-form strikers. While Slavia’s defensive efforts were commendable, they could not overcome the clinical finishing of the Arsenal front line. The match serves as a clear indicator that Gyökeres is regaining his confidence, potentially altering the dynamics of Arsenal’s squad rotation and strengthening their challenge for continental honors.
