Ted Hampton has officially stepped down as the athletic director at Brebeuf Jesuit, ending a twelve-year tenure in the role. The resignation, announced on Tuesday, marks a sudden shift in leadership for the Indianapolis private school. Hampton, who has been a staple of the Brebeuf community since 2007, cited the rapid expansion of his private construction company as the primary driver for his departure. He explained that the business, which he launched during the pandemic, has grown immensely, making it impossible to balance the demands of both roles effectively.

“I don’t feel like I’m serving the Brebeuf community as well as I should,” Hampton told the IndyStar, emphasizing that the decision was driven by professional priorities rather than any internal conflicts. He expressed gratitude for his two decades of service, noting that his daughter, Lucy, is currently a sophomore at the school. Hampton highlighted the positive relationships he built during his time, stating, “There are no problems, no issues… I have nothing but amazing memories and have met a ton of incredible people.”
Brebeuf Jesuit has already moved to fill the vacancy, elevating Jake Weinstein to the position of athletic director. Weinstein, who has served as the assistant athletic director since 2015, will now take the helm of the program. Mike Higginbotham, the school’s vice president for marketing and communications, confirmed the change in leadership, thanking Hampton for his years of dedicated service. The administration expressed confidence in Weinstein’s ability to continue the strong athletic tradition established during Hampton’s long tenure.
