Grimsby Town kicks off its 2026/27 Emirates FA Cup campaign this Sunday with a crucial first-round trip to the Stan Robinson Stadium. The Mariners, managed by David Artell, arrive in high confidence following a dominant league run that saw them dismantle Gillingham and York City. Artell’s side has found the net nine times across those two victories, signaling a potent attacking threat as they aim to secure a second-round spot against lower-league opposition.
Mariners seek first meeting against Northern Premier League side in historic tie.
Stafford Rangers, however, are no pushovers, sitting second in the Northern Premier League Division One West with 33 points from their first 14 matches. Under manager Graham Deakin, the hosts have recorded 11 wins this season and are hungry for a historic upset. Their last time defeating a Football League team in the FA Cup dates back to 1992, when they eliminated Lincoln City in a replay, making this match a significant milestone for the club.
This fixture marks the first-ever competitive meeting between the two clubs, adding a new chapter to their respective histories. Fans can watch the action live on TNT Sports 1, with kick-off scheduled for 12pm. As Grimsby looks to avoid a cup shock, the high stakes of this inaugural encounter promise an intense battle between a league-leading non-league side and a confident League One contender.
