Scots battle back to take a set but fall to two-time state champ Trinity Catholic
The final scoreline of 12-25, 17-25, 25-22, 13-25 highlights the competitive nature of the contest, with the underclassmen-heavy St. Andrew’s roster (19-8) showing significant grit against the heavily favored Trinity Catholic squad (25-5). Although the Scots ultimately fell short, their ability to secure a set against a perennial powerhouse underscores the program’s rapid development. This result cements St. Andrew’s as a rising force in the 2A division, having pushed a team with a near-perfect record to the brink of elimination in the third set.
Head coach Jorge Rivera emphasized that the team’s legacy extends beyond the scoreboard, citing the character and determination displayed by his players throughout the campaign. “What makes this team so special is not just what they accomplished on the volleyball court, but the character, resilience, and determination they showed throughout the season,” Rivera stated. “These young ladies faced challenges, overcame adversity, and continued to believe in each other when things weren’t easy.” This foundational success sets the stage for future contention as the underclassmen gain experience.
