AS Roma has accelerated its January transfer strategy by identifying three specific targets to reinforce its wide areas under manager Gian Piero Gasperini. According to Calciomercato.it, sporting director Tiago Pinto’s predecessor in the scouting network, or current director D’Amico, has initiated direct contact with agents representing Kevin Santos, Antonio Nusa, and Giorgi Kvernadze. This proactive approach signals the club’s urgency to address tactical gaps before the winter window opens, focusing heavily on players who can provide immediate impact in the Premier League, Bundesliga, and Serie A.
D’Amico moves fast as Gasperini seeks wide firepower to fix attack
The primary focus remains on Kevin Santos, the 2003-born Fulham winger, who is viewed as the top priority due to his proven ability in high-pressure environments. While Roma also explored signing Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa in the previous summer window, the club has not abandoned its interest in the Danish international, who offers elite technical quality and pace. Additionally, domestic option Giorgi Kvernadze, the 23-year-old Georgian winger currently impressing for Frosinone, represents a cost-effective alternative that fits Gasperini’s preference for versatile, high-intensity performers already acclimated to the Italian league.
These moves reflect a calculated effort to diversify Roma’s attacking options, moving beyond reliance on central forwards to create dynamic width. By targeting players with varying profiles—Santos for raw power, Nusa for technical flair, and Kvernadze for local familiarity—Roma aims to build a squad capable of adapting to different tactical setups. As the January window approaches, the Giallorossi’s swift action suggests a clear mandate to secure at least one of these wingers to bolster their title challenge and European campaigns.
