Viking Motorsports has secured its driver lineup for the 2027 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, announcing that Anthony Alfredo and Parker Retzlaff will return to the organization. The decision prioritizes continuity, keeping both drivers paired with their respective crew chiefs, Josh Graham and Danny Efland. This strategic move allows the team to build directly on the momentum gained during the current 2026 campaign rather than starting from scratch.
Stability drives strategy as NASCAR team locks in top performers for next season
The statistical performance justifies the retention of the current roster. The No. 96 Chevrolet, formed in December 2025, has recorded three top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in its inaugural season together. Meanwhile, the No. 99 Chevrolet, in its second full-time season, earned a spot in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase. Retzlaff has contributed four top-five and 12 top-10 finishes in 2026, demonstrating consistent competitiveness that the team aims to leverage in the coming year.
Owner Don Sackett emphasized that maintaining these specific driver-crew chief pairings was a primary objective for 2027. “Both of these teams have shown what they’re capable of this season,” Sackett stated. The No. 96 group, in particular, has shown significant improvement in the latter half of the 2026 season. With two races remaining, Viking Motorsports intends to carry this late-season momentum into the next chapter, betting on established chemistry to maximize results in 2027.
