Creighton basketball enters the new season with a singular mission: erase the sting of finishing with a losing record for the first time in 11 years. The Bluejays’ previous campaign was derailed by a wave of injuries and roster turnover, marking an uncharacteristic low point for the program. With head coach Alan Huss taking the helm, the focus shifts to rebuilding stability and competitive consistency within the Big East conference.
Alan Huss and seven transfers seek to erase a historic losing season.
The offseason was defined by significant roster churn, as Creighton lost 10 players, including eight who entered the transfer portal. Key departures included leading scorer Josh Dix (13.0 PPG) and assist leader Nik Graves, both of whom exhausted their eligibility. Additionally, Owen Freeman, who arrived from Iowa with high expectations, struggled with a meniscus injury and departed for Auburn, while reserves Blake Harper and Fedor Žugić also left the program.
To address these gaps, Huss has aggressively utilized the transfer portal, adding seven new players to reshape the roster. This infusion of talent is designed to replace the lost production from rotational players like Kerem Konan and Ty Davis. By integrating these new pieces, Creighton aims to restore its offensive firepower and defensive intensity, positioning itself as a formidable contender in the upcoming Big East slate.
