Verstappen Jokes Red Bull Should Abandon Radios After US GP Disaster

Max Verstappen publicly mocked Red Bull’s persistent technical failures at the United States Grand Prix, suggesting the team should switch to sign language to avoid further radio glitches. The four-time world champion finished third behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli in a race plagued by communication breakdowns that severely hampered his strategy. When asked if this was the second time such issues had occurred this season, Verstappen corrected the journalist, noting that the problem has recurred multiple times throughout the year.

Four-time champion calls repeated comms failures “a disaster” after finishing third in Austin.

“It’s not the second time. It’s already, I don’t know how many times this year. Maybe we should just start communicating in sign language. It’s probably cheaper as well. It’s a disaster. Yeah, it’s a disaster. It’s really frustrating, to be honest,” Verstappen stated during the post-race press conference. His comments highlight a growing concern over Red Bull’s reliability, as the Dutchman struggled to coordinate with the pitwall during critical moments of the race, ultimately costing him a potential podium challenge for victory.

The radio malfunction was not an isolated incident for the Red Bull squad, as team-mate Isack Hadjar also suffered from poor audio quality. Hadjar, who dropped from third to sixth after an opening-lap incident, reported that he could not hear his engineers clearly, leading to a pit stop where he potentially left the garage with the wrong engine setting. These recurring technical hiccups underscore a significant gap between Red Bull’s current performance and its previous dominance, raising questions about the team’s ability to maintain competitiveness as the season progresses.
