Kyle Busch, Greg Biffle Posthumously Named Comcast Community Champions

Comcast has made history by posthumously naming Kyle Busch and Greg Biffle the 2026 Comcast Community Co-Champions of The Year. This marks the first time the prestigious annual accolade, established in 2015, has been shared between two individuals rather than awarded to a single recipient. The decision underscores the profound impact both drivers had on the NASCAR community, recognizing their lifelong dedication to philanthropy and grassroots support.

A historic first: NASCAR honors two legends who defined the sport and its charitable spirit.

The award serves as a somber tribute to two of the sport’s most recognizable figures who passed away within a six-month span. Biffle, who was 55, died on December 18, 2025, in a plane crash in North Carolina that also claimed the lives of his wife, two children, and three others. Following that tragedy, the world of motorsports was struck again on May 21, 2026, when Kyle Busch died at age 41 after being hospitalized with severe pneumonia that rapidly progressed into sepsis.

Matt Lederer, vice president of brand partnerships and engagement at Comcast, expressed the organization’s pride in honoring the late stars, noting that their legacy extends far beyond the track. Since its inception, the Comcast Community Champion of The Year award has donated over $1 million to various nonprofit organizations, reflecting the deep commitment to service that both Busch and Biffle exemplified throughout their careers. By naming them co-champions, Comcast highlights a shared legacy of giving back that resonates deeply with fans and the broader NASCAR community.
