Jose Mourinho delivered a theatrical masterpiece at Camp Nou, executing his legendary knee slide to celebrate Real Madrid’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Barcelona in El Clasico. The 63-year-old manager, making his first appearance in charge of this fixture since returning to the Bernabéu 13 years ago, dropped to his knees and punched the air after Kylian Mbappe struck the decisive goal in the 88th minute. This emotional outburst instantly recalled his iconic 2010 celebration following Inter Milan’s Champions League semi-final triumph at the same venue, signaling a return to form for the Portuguese strategist.
The Special One recreates 2010 glory as Mbappe’s late brace sinks Barcelona at Camp Nou.
The match was a tactical chess match that ended in a statement performance for the visitors, handing LaLiga leaders Barcelona their first defeat of the season. Mbappe was the standout performer, scoring a brace to silence the home crowd and secure three crucial points. The result not only halts Barcelona’s perfect league record but also establishes Real Madrid’s dominance in the rivalry, proving that Mourinho’s tactical adjustments are already yielding immediate, high-stakes results in the most intense fixture in Spanish football.
Post-match, Mourinho emphasized the magnitude of the achievement, describing it as the most difficult contest against the highest-quality opponent in the league. “For us, it’s the victory with the most impressive performance,” he stated, highlighting the team’s resilience against a side that had previously won every league match. This win serves as a definitive marker of Mourinho’s second era at Real Madrid, combining tactical precision with the emotional intensity that has defined his career.
