Sheridan volleyball has officially returned to the regional stage, ending a two-year drought with a commanding four-set victory over league rival Tri-Valley. In a match that tested both squads’ resilience, the Generals (21-5) overcame a competitive first two sets to take control, winning 25-18, 25-23, 25-15, and 25-16 at West Muskingum’s Gary Ankrum Gymnasium. The win marks Sheridan’s first regional appearance since 2022, capping a season where the team successfully found its groove after a sluggish start.
Generals shake off slow start to defeat Tri-Valley and set up clash with Carroll Bloom-Carroll
The contest featured a back-and-forth battle as both Muskingum Valley League-Big School Division rivals traded blows, resulting in a tie after two sets. However, head coach Mauri O’Brien’s squad found its rhythm in the decisive third and fourth sets, executing with precision to seal the district finals spot. This performance underscores Sheridan’s ability to adjust mid-season, transforming early struggles into a strong finish that positions them as a serious contender in the upcoming tournament.
Sheridan now prepares for a high-stakes semifinal matchup against Carroll Bloom-Carroll (20-4) at 6 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Westerville South. The other semifinal features Granville (15-8), which defeated Columbus DeSales in five sets, and Toledo Notre Dame Academy (12-12). With momentum on their side, the Generals aim to extend their winning streak and push deeper into the tournament bracket, proving their resurgence is more than just a one-off result.
