Roma prepares to face Udinese in Serie A’s 10th matchday, with manager Gian Piero Gasperini signaling a significant squad rotation to manage player fatigue ahead of a crucial Champions League fixture in Manchester on November 3rd. Supported by a contingent of 5,000 traveling fans, the Giallorossi aim to maintain momentum while preserving key assets for European competition. According to reports from *Corriere dello Sport*, veteran captain Gianluca Mancini is expected to be rested, clearing the path for Daniele Ghilardi to secure a starting position in the defensive line.
Gasperini rotates squad ahead of Manchester clash as former Verona star eyes starting spot.
Ghilardi, who recently came off the bench against Cagliari to deliver a decisive assist for Paulo Dybala’s goal, is eager to prove his worth in a starting role. Gasperini is likely to overhaul the back four, with Edoardo Balerdi potentially replacing Senne Lammens or Nordi Mikel Ndicka, while Matías Hermoso remains anchored on the left. On the flanks, Marco Lulli is poised to start on the right, with Wesley Sena covering the opposite side. In midfield, Bryan Cristante and Nicolò Pisilli are expected to form the central partnership, with De Roon likely to rest as Paulo Dybala and Soulé operate behind Chukwuemeka.
This tactical adjustment reflects Gasperini’s pragmatic approach to a congested fixture list, prioritizing squad depth over individual star power for this domestic encounter. By resting high-usage players like Mancini and De Roon, Roma aims to mitigate injury risks while keeping the squad fresh for the high-stakes trip to England. The decision underscores the club’s commitment to balancing Serie A ambitions with their Champions League campaign, ensuring that key contributors remain at peak performance levels for the upcoming international break and subsequent European matches.
