The Columbus Blue Jackets emphatically ended their two-game losing streak by dismantling the Colorado Avalanche 7-2 at Nationwide Arena. The victory, which improved Columbus to 6-7-1, was powered by a dominant second period where the Jackets scored four consecutive goals to blow the game wide open. Cam Talbot secured the win in net, stopping 26 shots to keep the Avalanche from mounting a comeback after they briefly cut the deficit to 2-1.
Coyle’s career-high four points and a four-goal second period dismantle Colorado.
Charlie Coyle was the standout performer, matching his career high with four points, including two goals and two assists. His +5 plus/minus rating underscored his impact on the ice, while Mathieu Olivier contributed a goal and two assists. The offensive depth was evident as twelve different Blue Jackets recorded at least a point, with Cole Sillinger and Valeri Nichushkin each adding a goal and an assist. Zach Werenski also excelled, adding two assists to bring his season total to 12 in just 13 games.
The game marked the debut of the Blue Jackets’ new gray “Hometown Remix” jerseys, part of the NHL’s league-wide uniform rollout. The team will wear these uniforms in 12 more home games before the calendar year ends. The performance signaled a return to form for Columbus, who had previously struggled to maintain momentum, as they showcased the kind of balanced, high-scoring offense that defines their competitive identity.
