Cole Palmer: Third Fastest to 50 Premier League Goals for Chelsea

Luciana Rodrigues

Cole Palmer reached a bit of a milestone with his successful penalty against Manchester United over the weekend: it was his 50th goal for Chelsea in the Premier League. And yet it was only his 105th appearance in the Premier League for Chelsea! That’s good enough for third fastest all-time, behind both Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink (84 goals) and Diego Costa (85), but just ahead of Didier Drogba, who took one more at 106.

Key Match Highlights & Tactical Analysis

Beating Drogba to this mark is especially impressive, though our legendary striker did get off to a slow start in his Chelsea career, and he’s more famous for his big goals on the biggest occasions (a habit that Cole’s also slowly developing).

Palmer’s the eighth player to reach 50 goals for us in the Premier League (Frank Lampard, Eden Hazard, Gianfranco Zola, and Eidur Gudjohnsen also got there, in addition to the three already mentioned), and he’s the 28th player to reach 50 goals in any domestic league competition in our history. Overall, he’s got 59 Chelsea goals in all competitions, good for 30th all-time already (incidentally, tied with both Costa and Nicolas Anelka).
