The Buffalo Bills bolstered their secondary on Thursday, Nov. 5, by signing former Miami Dolphins starter Kader Kohou to their practice squad. This move marks the 11th defensive back addition for the Bills in the last month, signaling an urgent need for depth and competition as the season progresses. Kohou, who made his first NFL start against Buffalo earlier in his career, brings immediate familiarity with the AFC East and a proven track record in high-pressure situations.

Buffalo adds depth with “Darth Kader” after 38 starts in Miami

At 27 years old, Kohou enters the league with significant experience, having started 38 games over three seasons with the Dolphins. The 5-foot-10, 197-pound cornerback recorded 180 tackles, three interceptions, and 28 passes defended during his tenure in Miami. Although he has not played in an NFL regular-season game since 2024 due to a torn ACL sustained during training camp last year, his resume includes a national championship from Division II Texas A&M-Commerce and a rapid ascent to starter status as a rookie.

Kohou, nicknamed “Darth Kader,” was particularly effective in coverage during the 2024 season, ranking sixth among NFL cornerbacks in yards allowed per coverage snap at 0.71. Primarily utilized as a slot cornerback in Miami, his ability to generate pressure and limit big plays makes him a valuable asset for the Bills’ defensive scheme. With the practice squad designation, Kohou provides a low-risk option for Buffalo to evaluate his health and readiness for a potential promotion to the active roster.
