The Chicago Bears are poised for a pivotal clash against the Seattle Seahawks, with the narrative heavily centered on the arrival of defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. While the Bears possess the talent to win any game on their schedule, the immediate concern lies in their offensive inconsistency. Running back Kyle Monangai remains sidelined, and D’Andre Swift showed signs of lingering health issues during limited practice sessions this week. Without a reliable ground game, the Bears face a significant hurdle in Seattle, though quarterback Caleb Williams retains the explosive capability to single-handedly dismantle the Seahawks’ secondary if he plays with his characteristic flair.
Can Chicago’s new defensive anchor overcome a shaky rushing attack against Seattle?
Defensively, the trade for Simmons has fundamentally shifted expectations for Dennis Allen’s unit. The Bears’ defense has been overachieving prior to the acquisition, but Simmons’ presence elevates the group from a dangerous squad to a potentially dominant force. Analysts argue that Williams is better positioned to succeed against Seattle’s pass rush than Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is to navigate the pressure generated by Chicago’s revamped front seven. This dynamic suggests the game will be decided by which offense can maintain composure under the intense physicality of prime time football.
Ultimately, the prediction leans toward the Seahawks due to their improving health at running back and the sheer dominance of their defensive unit in recent weeks. While the Bears have a clear path to victory if their offense clicks, the current injury concerns and lack of a consistent running threat make them a risky bet. The arrival of Simmons changes the long-term trajectory for Chicago, but for this specific matchup, the edge belongs to Seattle’s balanced and healthy roster.
