Alabama basketball has significantly strengthened its 2027 recruiting class by securing the commitment of five-star forward Zion Green. The 6-foot-9, 190-pound prospect from Philadelphia, currently playing for Compass Prep in Arizona, officially committed to the Crimson Tide on Saturday, Oct. 31, according to Rivals’ Joe Tipton. This move marks the second major addition to Nate Oats’ incoming group, following the September commitment of guard Chase Lumpkin from McEachern High in Georgia.

Crimson Tide bolster 2027 class with 6-foot-9 forward who shoots 41% from deep

Green enters the program as the No. 20 overall prospect in the 2027 class and the No. 6 small forward nationally, per Rivals rankings. His recruitment featured intense competition from powerhouses including Kansas, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss, but Green chose Alabama after an official visit on Sept. 25. The forward brings a rare combination of elite size and perimeter threat, having shot 41% from three-point range and 78% from the free-throw line during his youth circuit career.

This commitment provides Alabama with critical frontcourt versatility for the future. Green’s ability to stretch the floor from the small forward position aligns with Oats’ offensive system, which relies heavily on spacing and shooting. By adding a player who can defend multiple positions while providing reliable outside shooting, the Crimson Tide have addressed a key area of need and solidified their position as a top-tier program in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
