Chris Tadjo powered Santa Clara to a decisive 83-77 victory over Sacramento State on Saturday, extending the Broncos’ winning streak to three games. Tadjo finished with 14 points, shooting an efficient 5-for-8 from the field and converting all four free throw attempts. The Broncos displayed superior depth, with David Castillo adding 13 points, including three three-pointers, while Sash Gavalyugov and Fedor Zugic each contributed 12 points to support the offense.

Broncos’ balanced attack and 15-0 run seal third straight victory

Sacramento State fought back with a strong individual performance from Mikey Williams, who led all scorers with 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Taj Glover provided a spark off the bench with 19 points and four steals, and Larry Hughes II added 12 points and two steals. However, the Hornets (1-1) could not overcome Santa Clara’s momentum, which was established early as Gavalyugov scored 12 points in the first half to help the Broncos build a 45-36 lead at the break.

The game turned decisively in the second half when Santa Clara executed a 15-0 run to pull ahead 75-67 with 4:31 remaining. Zugic was pivotal in the closing minutes, scoring 10 points in the second half to maintain the Broncos’ lead. Santa Clara (3-0) will look to extend their winning streak when they travel to face North Texas on Wednesday, while Sacramento State returns home to host UC Davis on Saturday.
