The Indy Ignite have officially mapped their route to a second Major League Volleyball championship, releasing their 2027 regular-season schedule Friday. As the reigning regular-season champions, the Indiana-based squad opens its third year in the league on January 9 against the Orlando Valkyries. The team will welcome fans back to the Fishers Event Center on January 17 for its first home matchup against Vegas Thrill, marking the start of a rigorous campaign designed to defend their top spot in the standings.
Expansion era begins as defending champions face four new rivals and a 26-game gauntlet.
The 2027 season marks a significant expansion for MLV, adding four new franchises: DC Flight, Los Angeles Thunder, NorCal Rumble, and Minnesota Forge. This growth expands the regular season to 26 games and introduces conference play, placing the Ignite in the East alongside Atlanta, Columbus, DC, Grand Rapids, and Orlando. The Ignite’s early schedule tests their depth immediately, featuring a 175-mile trip to Columbus for the Fury on January 23, a home game against expansion side NorCal Rumble on January 29, and a road clash with Minnesota Forge on January 31.
Despite the increased competitive landscape, the Ignite’s core remains intact, with 12 players returning from last year’s record-breaking roster. The team’s chemistry, forged during their title-winning campaign, provides a strong foundation for the upcoming challenges. As the league evolves with new markets and expanded rosters, the Ignite’s ability to maintain their dominance will be the defining narrative of the 2027 season, setting the stage for a potential back-to-back title run.
