Julian Edelman has stepped in to support A.J. Brown following a quiet debut for the New England Patriots. During Sunday’s 26-19 victory over the New York Jets, Brown struggled to find his rhythm, managing only three catches for 27 yards and no touchdowns. The underwhelming performance likely weighed on the former Philadelphia Eagles star, who has long dreamed of playing for the storied franchise. However, Edelman, who watched the game closely, took to social media to offer immediate encouragement.
Patriots legend offers reassurance as new WR navigates early struggles in New England.
Edelman’s brief but impactful note to his new teammate read, “AJ rusty. He will find it.” The message underscores the trust the Patriots organization places in Brown’s talent, despite the initial adjustment period. Edelman, a seven-time Super Bowl winner, understands the pressure of wearing the Patriots uniform and the importance of patience during a transition. His endorsement serves as a public vote of confidence, signaling that the team believes Brown’s production will improve as he acclimates to the system.
Edelman’s own legacy with New England provides context for his supportive stance. A seventh-round pick out of Kent State in 2009, Edelman spent all 12 of his NFL seasons with the Patriots, finishing his career with 620 receptions, 6,822 yards, and 36 touchdowns. As Brown works to replicate that level of success, Edelman’s guidance offers a valuable blueprint for navigating the challenges of joining a championship-caliber roster. Fans and analysts alike will watch closely to see if Brown heeds the advice and delivers the performance the Patriots expect.
