The Texas Longhorns enter Saturday’s matchup with a renewed sense of momentum, having secured a dominant 31-3 victory over Mississippi State to snap a two-game losing skid. Quarterback Arch Manning delivered a standout performance with three touchdowns, while defensive lineman Maraad Watson added a spectacular scoop-and-score to seal the win. This offensive explosion helped propel Texas (6-2, 3-2 SEC) into the No. 7 spot in the first College Football Playoff rankings, signaling that the team’s best performances may still be ahead.
Longhorns aim to extend hot streak against ranked Missouri in crucial SEC clash
The Longhorns now face a significant test against the 18th-ranked Missouri Tigers, a team that has demonstrated resilience despite its own losses to Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Missouri (6-2, 3-2 SEC) enters the contest with confidence after cruising to a 34-10 victory over Arkansas last weekend. For Texas, this game serves as a critical benchmark; having defeated top-10 Ole Miss two weeks ago, the Longhorns must maintain their high level of play against another ranked SEC opponent to solidify their playoff positioning.
Fans can catch the action as Texas hosts Missouri at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. The game is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 PM ET, with coverage available on the Big 12 Network. Key players to watch include Manning, who is looking to build on his recent scoring surge, and running back Raleek Brown, who has been instrumental in the Longhorns’ rushing attack. A win here would not only extend Texas’ winning streak but also strengthen their case for a higher seed in the upcoming College Football Playoff selection.
