Virginia’s deep roster returns for a 34.5-point blowout against the Huskies.
Virginia enters the game with exceptional roster continuity, retaining ten of its eleven eligible players from the 2025-26 campaign. The squad features three returning starters—Thijs De Ridder, Johann Grünloh, and Sam Lewis—alongside key sixth-man Chance Mallory. De Ridder, who earned All-ACC First Team honors last season, anchors the offense alongside Lewis and Mallory, who were also named to the NABC East All-District Team. This core group provides the foundation for a backcourt and frontcourt combination that remains one of the most efficient in the country.
Statistically, the Cavaliers’ scoring depth is formidable, with four players averaging double digits or near-double-digit points in the previous season. De Ridder led the team with 15.6 points per game, followed by Lewis at 10.6, Mallory at 9.3, and Grünloh at 7.1. With this experienced nucleus intact, Virginia is poised to control the pace and dominate the paint against Northeastern. The game thread will track every possession, highlighting how quickly the Cavaliers establish their lead in this highly anticipated non-conference opener.
