Jannik Sinner has officially ended his five-year coaching partnership with Darren Cahill, a collaboration that yielded five Grand Slam titles and 95 weeks at world No 1. The Italian star, currently sidelined by a knee injury sustained after his second Wimbledon victory in July, confirmed the split as he prepares for a new chapter with former world No 2 Magnus Norman. Norman is poised to replace the veteran Australian, who had initially planned to retire at the end of the previous season before extending his tenure based on a bet regarding Sinner’s Wimbledon success.

The decision marks a significant shift in Sinner’s high-performance team, which previously included Italian coach Simone Vagnozzi. Cahill, 61, played a pivotal role in stabilizing Sinner’s game and mental resilience during his ascent to the top of the ATP rankings. Sinner expressed deep gratitude for the Australian’s influence, stating, “Darren has been an incredibly important part of my journey. I want to thank Darren for his belief in me, his honesty and his dedication. He has helped me grow both as a player and as a person, and his guidance will stay with me throughout my career.”
As Sinner recovers from his knee issue, the tennis world watches closely for the impact of Norman’s arrival in 2027. Norman brings a wealth of experience from his own top-five career and his work with other elite players, offering a fresh strategic perspective for the Italian. Fans can follow Sinner’s return journey and other top-tier action, including the ATP Paris Masters and the WTA Finals in Indian Wells, live on Sky Sports, as the tour continues its final stretch of the season.
