The Los Angeles Chargers have solidified their position as the NFL’s most surprising underperformers, entering Week 9 as the league’s only winless team. This historic collapse guarantees the franchise the No. 1 overall selection in the 2027 NFL Draft, a significant asset that underscores the magnitude of their current struggles. With November in full swing, the division between legitimate contenders and teams falling out of contention has become stark, leaving the Chargers isolated at the bottom of the standings and firmly in control of the draft’s premier asset.
LA’s winless start secures the top slot, while Titans and Dolphins round out the elite tier.
Following the Chargers, the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins occupy the next critical spots in the projected draft order, completing the top three selections. These teams, along with the rest of the bottom tier, are currently navigating a difficult stretch of the regular season where every loss directly impacts their future roster construction. As the league approaches the mid-season mark, the draft order serves as a real-time barometer of team performance, highlighting which franchises are poised for a rebuild and which are fighting to maintain playoff relevance.
The 2027 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place from Thursday, April 29, through Saturday, May 1, at the National Mall outside the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
