Luka Doncic continues his historic scoring run, dismantling the Miami Heat with a dominant 42-point, 13-assist performance in a 138-117 victory. The Mavericks star is averaging 38.3 points on 49.7% field-goal shooting, 42.7% three-point shooting, eight rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game this season. His current production surpasses his previous campaign, where he finished fourth in MVP voting, signaling a potential leap to the top of the league’s pecking order.
Two-time MVP places Slovenian star in elite historical company after blowout loss to Mavericks
Giannis Antetokounmpo put up a respectable 30 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, but he was visibly outmatched by Doncic’s versatility and efficiency. The two-time MVP acknowledged the gap in their post-game press conference, conceding that the Slovenian is operating in “rarefied air” regarding his ability to score. Antetokounmpo’s admission highlights the sheer dominance Doncic has displayed, forcing even the league’s premier two-way player to step back and recognize the historic nature of the current run.
When pressed by a reporter to clarify if his comments applied to the current moment, Antetokounmpo firmly corrected the timeline, stating, “Not right now. Of all time.” The two-time MVP emphasized that while many are hesitant to make such comparisons, Doncic’s statistical profile and impact place him among the greatest scorers in NBA history. This endorsement from a fellow elite talent underscores the magnitude of Doncic’s season, cementing his status as a generational talent who is rewriting the record books in real-time.
