Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love has been placed on Injured Reserve following a new ankle injury, a devastating blow for fantasy managers who invested significant draft capital in his potential. The 4-to-5 week absence projects Love’s return for Weeks 13 or 14, a critical window that coincides with the height of fantasy playoffs. This timeline effectively removes Love from the equation for the immediate future, forcing owners to pivot their strategies and seek reliable replacement options before the waiver wire deadline hits.
Key Match Highlights & Tactical Analysis
The injury creates an immediate power vacuum in the Cardinals’ backfield, elevating Tyler Allgeier to the status of the top priority waiver wire add for Week 9. With Love sidelined, Allgeier is poised to assume the primary ground game responsibilities, offering a high-upside target for managers looking to stabilize their roster. The shift in workload is significant, as Allgeier will likely see increased touches in both the running and receiving games, making him a must-add for any team seeking a reliable source of points during the crucial stretch of the season.
For fantasy managers, the key takeaway is urgency. The combination of Love’s extended absence and the Cardinals’ need for a dependable offensive engine makes Allgeier a prime candidate for immediate acquisition. Owners should prioritize adding Allgeier before the waiver wire deadline to secure his starting role and capitalize on the increased workload. This move not only mitigates the risk associated with Love’s injury but also positions teams to gain a competitive edge in the final weeks of the regular season and beyond.
