FC Barcelona dismantled Deportivo Alaves 6-1 on Saturday, snapping a two-game losing streak with a performance that showcased their attacking depth. Lamine Yamal and Raphinha each scored twice, leading the charge in a dominant display that reasserted the Blaugrana’s status as La Liga leaders. While goalkeeper Joan Garcia conceded a late goal from Mariano Diaz, denying him a clean sheet, he emphasized the team’s collective focus and resilience following a difficult week. “We did our job. We were focused and played well,” Garcia stated, highlighting the squad’s ability to respond to pressure and maintain their top spot in the standings.
Key Match Highlights & Tactical Analysis
The victory was underpinned by a tactical adjustment in the defensive structure, specifically the implementation of a higher defensive line. Garcia noted that this approach, facilitated by the presence of Pau Cubarsi and the midfield press, allowed Barcelona to dominate possession and create space for their forwards. The keeper praised the cohesion of his makeshift backline, which included a mix of experienced veterans and young talents, noting that their communication and positioning were crucial in nullifying Alaves’ counter-attacks for the majority of the match. This tactical shift not only secured the win but also provided a blueprint for future high-pressure encounters.
Looking ahead, Garcia addressed the fine margins that have cost Barcelona against Europe’s elite in recent Champions League campaigns. He acknowledged that while the domestic form is strong, the level of intensity and tactical discipline required in European competition demands perfection in every phase of play. The keeper stressed the importance of learning from recent setbacks, particularly in managing transitions and maintaining defensive shape when pushed high up the pitch. With the league table tightening, Garcia’s confidence in the squad’s ability to adapt and execute under pressure signals a renewed sense of urgency as Barcelona prepares for their next critical fixtures.
