The University of Hawaii volleyball team cemented its status as the conference’s premier force, extending its winning streak to 11 matches with a commanding 25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 25-18 victory over UC Davis at the University Credit Union Center. Sophomore outside hitter Cha’lei Reid anchored the offense with a match-high 14 kills, providing the decisive spark needed to overcome a second-set stumble. Despite hitting negative in the second frame, the Rainbow Wahine roared back to secure the final two sets, showcasing the resilience that has defined their remarkable 11-0 start in Mountain West Conference play.
Cha’lei Reid’s 14 kills power Rainbow Wahine to dominant Mountain West lead
Statistical dominance was evident across the board for the Rainbow Wahine, who now sit four games ahead of every other team in the conference with only seven matches remaining. Maeli Cormier contributed nine kills, while Miliana Sylvester fortified the net with five blocks. The defensive effort was equally impressive, as Victoria Leyva recorded a team-high 19 digs, officially surpassing the 1,000-dig milestone in her UH career. Setter Adrianna Arquette orchestrated the attack with 31 assists, seven digs, and four kills, ensuring a balanced and efficient offensive flow that kept the Aggies off balance.
UC Davis, led by Ally Chandler’s 13 kills and six blocks, posed a significant challenge, having defeated Hawaii twice during their previous Big West tenure. However, the Aggies (11-11, 7-4) could not sustain their momentum against Hawaii’s (19-3, 11-0) superior depth and execution. This victory not only extends Hawaii’s impressive run but also solidifies their position as the clear favorite to claim the Mountain West title, leaving little doubt about their trajectory toward the postseason.
