Anton Lundell delivered a career-defining performance with a hat trick as the Florida Panthers dismantled the struggling Winnipeg Jets 5-2 on Friday night. The victory marked Florida’s sixth win in its last eight games, showcasing the team’s resilience despite missing key offensive weapons. Seth Jones complemented Lundell’s offensive explosion by capping a historic month with a goal and two assists, securing his place in franchise history.
Florida extends winning streak to six while Winnipeg falls to 0-6-2 in last eight
Jones finished October with 18 points, comprising two goals and 16 assists, to shatter the record for most points by a Florida defenseman in a single month. He surpassed Keith Yandle’s previous mark of 17 points set in March 2018. This defensive dominance provided the backbone for the Panthers’ attack, allowing them to control the pace against a Winnipeg squad that has gone winless in its last eight contests, posting a 0-6-2 record in that span.
The Jets, who dropped both ends of a home-and-home series with Florida this week, managed only a brief spark when Morgan Barron scored his first goal of the season to cut the deficit to 3-2. However, Lundell’s second goal of the night immediately restored Florida’s two-goal lead, and he sealed the win with an empty-netter with 1:39 remaining. Akira Schmid stopped 22 shots for the Panthers, who remain without Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand due to injury, though both players have resumed skating and are expected to return in three to four weeks.
