Lewis Mills-Wolcott Tech co-op delivered a commanding offensive performance to defeat Rocky Hill 51-30 on Friday night, extending their season record to 5-2 while dropping the visiting Eagles to 2-5. The co-op’s ground game was the primary engine, led by Mason Scanlon, who handled 25 carries for 147 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Scanlon’s explosive runs, including an 11-yard and a 7-yard score, set the tone early, while quarterback Jayce McDonald added a 34-yard touchdown pass to Clark Grady and a rushing score of his own to keep the momentum with Lewis Mills.
Mason Scanlon’s triple-threat performance powers co-op to a dominant 5-2 record.
Rocky Hill fought back with a balanced effort from dual-threat quarterback Mason Margiotta, who accounted for all four of the Eagles’ touchdowns with two passes and two runs. Margiotta connected with Colin Sanker for a 16-yard score in the first quarter and later found Sanker again for a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth, capping a 30-point offensive output. The Eagles also benefited from a late-game surge, but their defensive struggles allowed Lewis Mills to control the clock and maintain a double-digit lead for the majority of the contest.
The game featured a pivotal defensive play when Lewis Mills’ Gryfn Kobylarz returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown, further widening the gap in the fourth quarter. Despite Rocky Hill’s ability to score in every quarter, the Eagles’ inability to contain Lewis Mills’ rushing attack proved fatal. With Lewis Mills now sitting at 5-2, the co-op solidifies its position in the state rankings, while Rocky Hill looks to bounce back in Week 9 to salvage their season.
