The Varsity 845 football player of the week poll is officially live for the week of Oct. 19-25, 2026, inviting fans to determine the region’s top performers. To ensure fairness and eligibility, athletes who won the previous two weekly contests are currently ineligible. Consequently, J.P. Sullivan of Goshen and Xavier Young of Fallsburg, who claimed the large and small school titles for Oct. 12-18, respectively, are sitting out this cycle. Additionally, Don Cusumano of Goshen and Logan Noren of Tri-Valley, who won the Oct. 5-11 polls, remain ineligible, clearing the path for new contenders to step up.
Fans decide next week’s MVPs as Goshen and Fallsburg stars take a mandatory break.
Eligibility for this week’s vote is strictly tied to verified game reports submitted to Varsity 845. Coaches must ensure their game statistics are on file to make their athletes eligible for selection. Furthermore, coaches have the opportunity to nominate one specific player from their roster by Sunday afternoon, adding a layer of strategic consideration to the voting process. Only one athlete per team is eligible for the award each week, a rule that persists through the regular season and into the postseason.
Fans can cast their votes as frequently as they wish at RecordOnline.com/sports/high-school until the deadline of Sunday, Nov. 1, at 11 p.m. The community’s choice will be announced weekly on the official @Varsity845 account on X/Twitter. As the season progresses, these weekly honors serve as a critical benchmark for standout individual performances, highlighting the depth and talent across the region’s high school football landscape.
