David De Gea has publicly rallied behind Manchester United manager Michael Carrick, sharing a nostalgic photo from their time together at Old Trafford to show support during a turbulent period for the Red Devils. The Fiorentina goalkeeper posted the image on X, captioned with a DNA emoji, featuring Carrick and De Gea prior to a 2013-14 fixture. This gesture comes at a critical juncture, signaling that former players still stand by the former England midfielder despite mounting external pressure.
Spanish veteran shows loyalty to former teammate as Man Utd managerial crisis deepens
Carrick’s tenure, which began in January as the successor to Ruben Amorim, has been marred by recent results, specifically back-to-back defeats against Como in the Champions League and Bournemouth in the Premier League. These losses have intensified speculation regarding his future, with Julian Nagelsmann and Antonio Conte emerging as prominent names in the rumor mill for potential replacements. The immediate drop in form has placed significant weight on Carrick, who must now navigate both tactical adjustments and media scrutiny to retain his position.
De Gea’s intervention highlights the strong personal bonds formed during his years at the club, where he played alongside Carrick for several seasons. By leveraging his social media platform to display solidarity, the Spanish international aims to stabilize the mood around the squad. As Manchester United looks to bounce back from these setbacks, the visible support from a high-profile former teammate may serve as a crucial morale booster for Carrick and his staff as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.
