Ayush Badoni asserted his dominance in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group C clash, steering Delhi to a commanding 309/5 on the opening day at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. After Delhi opted to bat, the visitors weathered early pressure to post a formidable total that puts them in the driver’s seat against Jharkhand. The match, played on Monday, saw Delhi establish a strong foundation before Badoni took charge of the innings, ensuring the team finished the day in a position of strength.

Skipper’s 106 and a 128-run stand with Mathur leave Delhi in a dominant position in Ranchi.

The Delhi captain continued his prolific form, smashing an unbeaten 106 off 122 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes. This marks his sixth first-class century and his second of the current season, following a maiden double hundred against Gujarat in the previous round. Badoni arrived at the crease with the score at 143/4 during the second session, but Delhi slipped to 181/5 before he joined forces with Sumit Mathur. The pair stitched together an unbroken 128-run partnership, frustrating the Jharkhand attack and completely shifting the momentum in Delhi’s favor.

Mathur complemented his captain perfectly, remaining unbeaten on 50 from 119 deliveries to anchor the chase. Earlier in the innings, openers Priyansh Arya (39) and Sanat Sangwan (37) provided a solid base by negotiating testing spells from Jharkhand pacers Jatin Pandey and debutant Shubh Sharma. With Delhi posting a substantial first-innings total, the focus now shifts to the second day, where the visitors will look to extend their lead and secure a decisive victory in the Elite Group C standings.
