The Oregon Ducks face a severe personnel crisis ahead of their Saturday road matchup against the Illinois Fighting Illini, with the Big Ten Availability Report confirming that wide receivers Jalen Lott and Messiah Hampton are officially out. This development leaves the Ducks without four of their five top receiving options, as Jeremiah McClellan (foot) and Evan Stewart (undisclosed) were already listed as unavailable. Consequently, Dakorien Moore stands as the only healthy starting receiver for the Ducks, forcing a significant strategic adjustment in the passing game.
Ducks lose four key WRs and starting QB, leaving Dakorien Moore as sole healthy option
The injury toll extends beyond the skill position, severely impacting the Ducks’ offensive and defensive cores. Starting quarterback Dante Moore has also been ruled out, alongside starting safety Aaron Flowers and defensive lineman Matthew Johnson. With multiple key contributors missing from both sides of the ball, Oregon’s depth chart is stretched thin, raising questions about how the coaching staff will manage game tempo and defensive rotations against a competitive Big Ten opponent.
A final availability report will be released two hours prior to kickoff on Saturday, which may offer slight updates to the roster status. However, the current landscape suggests a challenging environment for the Ducks, who must rely on their remaining healthy players to maintain competitiveness. Fans and analysts will closely watch how the offense adapts with Moore as the primary target and how the defense compensates for the absence of Flowers and Johnson in this crucial conference contest.
